Sixth grade students from St. Joseph School Pekin participated in a community service project March 15th and March 22nd for Project Linus. Project Linus is a nationwide volunteer organization that makes handmade blankets and distributes them to critically ill and traumatized children.
Over the two days, students designed and colored two to three quilt squares each that will be made into three blankets to be given to three children at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Mrs. Barbara, local area coordinator of Project Linus, provided the 8 1/2 “ muslin squares, permanent markers, and the expertise needed to make this a successful project. She will also sew the 36 quilt squares with solid quilt squares to make three blankets.
